Low Level Horror Movie Video Lesson

This is a low level lesson based on this fantastic lesson plan. It was perfect for the week after Halloween but as teenagers love horror movies it would undoubtedly work really well at any time of year. My students could not really understand what the narrator was saying, so I just went through the scenes and asked the students what they thought was happening. Each scene also has a fill in the gaps listening exercise.

Activity one.
This is the first activity on the above link. Play the first 30 seconds of the video to the students and ask them to answer the following questions:
What can you hear?
Where do you think it is?
How does the sound make you feel?
Ask the students to tell you the sentence structure that they should use to answer the questions, I then write these on the board so the lower level students in the class can use full sentences. Ask a few students to share their answers with the class.

Activity two.
Play the first section of the video up to 1.30. Show the students the questions on the second slide and ask them to answer the questions. Again ask the higher level students what the sentence structure is so the lower level students can answer in full sentences as well. Repeat this with the next two sections of the video. After each section ask some students to share their answers with the class.
Section two ends at 2.16 and section three ends at 4.34.

Activity three.
Play the video up to the part when the girl opens the door. Ask the students to think about what the ending will be and write their answer on the worksheet. Ask some of the students to share their answers with the class.
